- Welsh Slate
For centuries, these quarries have been home to the world’s best quality slate. In 2007, we acquired a group of slate quarries in North Wales which we re–branded ‘Welsh Slate Ltd’. These quarries include the Penrhyn, Ffestiniog and Cwt–y–Bugail quarries which have an unrivalled reputation for providing the world’s best quality slate.
From these quarries, we produce a range of roofing slate, dimensional stone, aggregates, industrial minerals and bespoke tableware.
The history of production on these sites dates from as far back as the 13th century, and these slates have been used to roof many of the world’s landmark buildings including Buckingham Palace, Kings Cross Saint Pancras Train Station and the British Museum in London. Welsh Slate is in high demand in both Ireland and GB and we also have strong export markets in Europe, North America and Australia.
